Microneedling
Microneedling, also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a cosmetic procedure which uses tiny needles to rejuvenate skin. The treatment is a form of controlled skin injury directed at stimulating the growth of healthy new skin. Microneedling tools are comprised of small needles (most commonly penetrating 0.5 mm – 3.5 mm) that gently puncture the skin and create small wounds. These wounds are nearly imperceptible, but your skin recognizes the damage and the need to heal itself. Collagen production is stimulated resulting in firmer, brighter, smoother skin.
Microneedling can help improve the appearance and texture of your skin. It is also an effective treatment to minimize:
Acne Scars
Pores
Cellulite
Scars (Injury or Surgery)
Fine Lines
Stretch Marks
Pigmentation
Wrinkles
Pockmarks
Unlike some facial rejuvenation procedures that use heat, light or lasers, microneedling does not carry the risk of skin discoloration. This makes microneedling ideal for people of all skin types. Individuals who easily scar, are pregnant, have rosacea or eczema should NOT chose microneedling as a treatment option. Individual results may vary from patient to patient.

Microneedling can treat all skin types and colors including tanned skin. This treatment can be used to address a wide range of skin conditions like rosacea, wrinkling and sagging skin, small scars, and damage caused by UV rays. Typically, microneedling is used to treat cosmetic issues on the face, but it can also be used on other areas of the body. Microneedling, also known as Collagen induction therapy, is minimally invasive, so it’s appropriate for a wide range of people. People who have active cold sores, a skin infection, a skin disease such as psoriasis, are receiving chemo or radiation, take anticoagulant medications, are pregnant or have a history of poor scarring including keloid scars, or poor wounding are not good candidates.
-
Some people report seeing results a week after their first microneedling treatment. These results include a slight reduction in the appearance of acne, a more even skin tone, and smaller pores. Everybody’s skin is different, so some people will heal faster than others. It also depends on the severity of your issues. For instance, if you have deep acne scarring, you may not see results until you have undergone two or more treatments.
-
The microneedling device contains ultrafine, very sharp, sterile needles that puncture the skin which causes only minimal damage to the skin. These microneedles do not cause permanent damage to the skin. Your comfort is important, so a topical numbing cream will be applied to the areas 30-45 minutes before your treatment begins.

Possible side effects include peeling, itching, acne and cold sore flare ups.

Expect some inflammation, swelling and redness like a sunburn that can last 24–48 hours after the treatment. Minor pinpoint bleeding and possibly some bruising may occur. After the treatment, moisturize the treatment area regularly and avoid direct sun exposure. We also recommend using a good, broad-spectrum 30+ sunscreen every day.

The number of treatments required will vary based on the current condition of your skin and your desired treatment goals. Most clients require 3 to 6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart to achieve desired results. Yearly follow up treatments are recommended to maintain the results.

Since downtime is minimal, makeup can be applied one to two days after your treatment. Patients should expect to see micro-lesions a few days after treatment and slight redness for up to one week. We recommend using a tinted SPF or mineral makeup.
