Laser - Genesis
Laser Genesis is a non-ablative, Nd: YAG 1064 nm laser used to treat the dermis – the middle layer of skin. In simpler terms, Laser Genesis does not wound the skin. Instead, it works by penetrating the top layer of skin and delivering thousands of micro-pulses of light to the dermis. These micro-pulses heat up the dermis, and the warming action shrinks blood vessels, breaks down scar tissue and stimulates collagen production.
During your procedure, a certified laser technician will move the Laser Genesis wand over the treatment area, in a continuous and repetitive motion. While the wand is moving over your skin, you may feel a slight warming sensation, but some patients report that this feels like a relaxing massage. The icing on the cake is the boost of radiance and firmness Laser Genesis gives the skin by stimulating collagen production. Laser Genesis can be used to treat any part of the body.

Laser Genesis can be suitable for various candidates with different skin concerns and is suitable for Fitzpatrick skin types I-VI. Some suitable candidates for Laser Genesis include individuals with fine lines and wrinkles since the treatment stimulates collagen production, improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Candidates with enlarged pores can benefit from the treatment as it can help reduce the size of enlarged pores, leading to a more refined skin texture. For those with uneven skin texture, Laser Genesis can effectively even out the skin’s texture, reducing the appearance of scars, acne scars, and other textural irregularities. Individuals with mild to moderate acne may find relief through the treatment. The laser’s heat can target the sebaceous glands in the skin, reducing acne breakouts and promoting clearer skin. Laser Genesis can help people with redness or rosacea, as it can decrease redness and diffuse redness associated with rosacea, resulting in a more even skin tone. The treatment can also address sun damage by helping to fade sunspots and other hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure. While the treatment can significantly improve skin texture, tone, and certain skin concerns, it may not provide the same dramatic results as more invasive procedures.
Contraindications:
• Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should avoid the treatment.
• Those with a keloid or hypertrophic scarring history may not be suitable candidates This treatment involves stimulating collagen production, which, in some cases, can worsen the appearance of raised scars. If you tend to develop keloid or hypertrophic scars, you are advised against undergoing this treatment to avoid any adverse effects on the treated areas.
• Certain medical conditions and medications may also be contraindicated for Laser Genesis. For example, individuals with active skin infections, inflammatory skin conditions, or a history of skin cancer may not be suitable candidates.

Laser Genesis penetrates the skin’s surface and gently heats the upper dermis, the layer of the skin where collagen is found. Collagen is a structural protein that plays a key role in maintaining skin strength and elasticity. Production of collagen naturally slows over time, causing wrinkles, skin laxity and other changes associated with skin ageing. Laser Genesis helps reverse these changes by generating heat that stimulates the body’s natural healing processes and activates collagen remodelling. This simultaneously enhances the skin’s quality on a cellular level and creates visible improvements on the skin’s surface.

When you arrive for your Laser Genesis appointment, your laser clinician will cleanse your skin and provide you with safety eyewear. Your clinician will then pass the laser handpiece over the treatment zone in sections, holding it about half an inch above the surface of your skin. You will feel a gradual warming of your skin as the laser delivers heat to your upper dermis. Patients describe the treatment as being relaxing and feeling like warm rain. Laser Genesis is not a painful treatment.

Laser Genesis is a convenient lunchtime treatment with no downtime. It is gentle and minimally-invasive, most patients can return to their normal routine immediately after a session. You may experience some post-procedural redness, but it is generally slight and dissipates within an hour.

The most important thing to remember after treatment with Laser Genesis is sun protection. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen if you will be outdoors for any length of time. We recommend avoiding strenuous activities for 48 hours post-procedure, steam rooms, saunas, and chlorinated and saltwater pools.
-
Very few, if any, side effects. The most common side effect is minor redness that subsides within a few hours after treatment. This can be covered with makeup if desired.

It is common to undertake an initial course of six treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart and then move to a maintenance program if required. The needs of every patient’s skin are unique.

The results of a single Laser Genesis treatment are immediate but subtle. You will notice a healthier, more radiant complexion as minor imperfections diminish, fine lines soften and pores are minimized. With a series of Laser Genesis treatments, your results can be quite dramatic. Over the course of multiple sessions, you can expect a reduction of diffuse redness, fading of acne scarring, reduced appearance of lines and pores, and an increasingly youthful look propelled by new collagen production.
