  • You might be a candidate for microdermabrasion if you’re looking for a minimally invasive method for improving the health and appearance of your skin. Microdermabrasion can also address minor skin flaws that affect how you feel about your skin such as: large pores, melasma, uneven skin texture, hyperpigmentation, sunspots or age spots.

    If you have facial scars from chickenpox, a minor injury, or acne, microdermabrasion can make them look less noticeable.

    Unfortunately, not all treatments are for everyone. Please check the list of contraindications to avoid disappointment:

    • Active infection of any type, such as cold soars (Herpes Simplex Virus) or flat warts

    • Active acne

    • Sunburn

    • Use of topical agents such as glycolic acids, alpha hydroxy acids and Retin-A within 2 weeks

    • Any recent chemical peel procedure

    • Diabetes

    • Eczema, dermatitis

    • Skin Cancer / Chemotherapy

    • Vascular lesions

    • Rosacea

    • Pregnancy

    • Use of Accutane within the last year

    • Family history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation

    • Telangiectasia/erythema may be worsened or brought out by skin exfoliation

  • Discontinue use of all alpha hydroxy products (containing glycolic or lactic acid), salicylic acid products, retinoids (Retin A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac) or any other topical acne medications (benzoyl peroxide) 2 days prior to treatment.

    Avoid the following treatments 7 days prior to microdermabrasion: waxing, tweezing, electrolysis, laser treatments (any kind), injections (Botox/fillers), chemical peels (any kind) and facials.

    If you have a history of cold soars of fever blisters (herpes simplex virus) it is possible for a reactivation of the condition to occur after the treatment. An antiviral medication is recommended to be taken prior to treatment.

  • Following a microdermabrasion treatment your may experience the following; skin may appear pink, mild itching, irritation, redness and an increased sensitivity for a few days. Slight peeling may occur for 3-5 days and small whiteheads may appear. Make-up may be applied to cover redness as needed.

    Avoid direct sunlight on the treated areas and use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater for 1-2 weeks. Keep your skin well hydrated with a protective moisturizer.

    Avoid using Vitamin C Serums for 48 hours, abrasive products such as scrubs or exfoliating sponges for 7 -10 days, products such as retinols and glycolic acid for 10 days.

    Crusting is rare; however if it does occur, a thin layer of over-the-counter antibiotic ointment such as Polysporin® can be applied 2-3 times a day for 3 days. Please call if you experience this uncommon reaction

  • Microdermabrasion is generally mild in pressure and is therefore very gentle on the skin, although some people do experience a slight stinging sensation from the crystals used to exfoliate the skin.

  • Results are often seen immediately after the treatment which is what makes this such a popular procedure.

  • Microdermabrasion is usually performed in a series of 6 treatments, 2-3 weeks apart. Depending on your desired outcome, one of our trained skincare professionals will customize a treatment plan that takes into account your skin types and concerns.
